More InformationSpring Again – Jazz Meets Chamber Music
With “Spring Again”, the High Fiddelity ensemble presents its new album: eleven diverse original compositions by violinist and violist Natalia Brunke, arranged for jazz vocals and string quartet.
The boundaries between jazz, pop and chamber music are fluid. What makes this exceptional is the line-up: vocals and string instruments combine to create a unique sound. The string players alternate between chordal accompaniment and solo passages, expanding the soundscape of the pieces with atmospheric sounds such as wind or raindrops The singer interprets the colourful compositions, improvising and intensifying the respective mood with her versatile voice.
The songs tell of encounters and new beginnings, of doubt and courage, of journeys and moments of lightness – and of the ever-returning, long-awaited spring.
“Natalia Brunke is a wonderful composer. The Munich-born artist possesses a delicate sensibility for the language of love and the rituals of parting in relationships, finding the right notes for experimental pieces about snow-covered beaches on a North Sea island or for amusing descriptions of situations“
